The list below is only a partial list of some of Family Life Council's areas of concentration - locally, nationally and internationally.
Latin America Project
Family Life Council, Inc. for over two decades has served as a “bridge” between pro-life, pro-family and Church leaders in Latin American countries with their counterparts in the U.S., and also with Canada and Europe. Working together we are all stronger and more effective. Setting up and operating networks of experts on key issues is crucial to building a better world.
Presence at the United Nations
Since 1993, Family Life Council has been active at the United Nations working to promote a better understanding and appreciation of human rights, human dignity, and the rights and well-being of the family by participating in international conferences such as the UN Conference on Population (Cairo, 1994), Women (Beijing, 1995) and many subsequent conferences and international negotiations through to the present. Coordinating with similar NGOs, and through direct contact with country delegates from all over the world, Family Life Council raises it voice in defense of the right to life and a correct understanding of marriage and family.
Involvement in the Organization of American States (OAS)
The OAS is the important regional forum for the Western Hemisphere and where policy decisions impact us all from Canada all the way down to Argentina and Chile. Family Life Council has recently begun to increase its monitoring efforts and presence at the OAS headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Let Us Love All Three: Mother, Unborn Baby and Father
Abortion is NO solution to any problem; destroying a child before birth only brings death and sadness. Family Life Council’s efforts and programs to educate the general public, especially young people, about the wonder and beauty of life before birth, and the need to respect and nurture each and every individual life, regardless of circumstance, build the kind of culture we desperately need.
Let Us Not Forget Them!
Family Life Council’s headquarters in the United States is just a few minutes away from one of the most dramatic and unique sites in the world: The Children’s Section of Milwaukee’s Holy Cross Cemetery, the resting place for over 1,200 babies killed by abortion - a fitting place to pray, ask forgiveness, to heal, and to resolve to end the barbarism. Family Life Council has a major role in ensuring that “We don’t forget.” For more information, click here.
In our ever-increasing technological world, it is very tempting to try to “play god” with human life. We need to recall the words of Albert Schweitzer, "If a man loses reverence for any part of life, he will lose reverence for all life." Family Life Council networks with world-famous bio-ethicists whose knowledge and wisdom bring light to a world desperately in need of it.
The basic building cell of society. “So goes the family, so goes society.” Family Life Council is proud to work with those who recognize and promote public policies and personal choices that foster strong and healthy families.
Human Rights and Human Dignity
At the “end of the day”, what matters most is do we see others as our brothers and sisters? Do we see ourselves and other human beings as made in the image and likeness of God? That is the basis for a real understanding of human rights and human dignity. Family Life Council works with legal experts, public policy specialists and spiritual leaders who are committed to this vision.
